DAY WISE ITINERARY FOR GREAT LAKES TREK:-

Kashmir Great Lakes Trek Itinerary, the basic trekking is seven nights eight days. To complete the total trekking route from Sonmarg to Narang. There are countless unexplored alpine lakes that require more time to explore.Trip Details,Breakfast is served every morning at around 7.30.A.M. The trek starts at 8.30. am in the morning. You will take your pack for lunch and from 12.30 to 1 pm.It’s lunch time. Trekking guides and back up horses will accompany you in small batches. And the big batch will have a guide,co-guide and two back up horses.

SIND VALLEY SONAMARG SHUTKADI ALTITUDE 2800 METERS

DAY 1:-

Srinagar to Sonmarg:The journey starts at noon from Srinagar center by car up to 3 hours drive to Sonmarg.Overnight on foot of Tajwais Glacier.In camps on the banks of river Sindh.This is very important for optimization.A short hike to the Tajwais Glacier can be wonderful for getting into the height conditions.

NICHNAI VALLEY  ALTITUDE 3500 METERS

DAY 2:-

Sonmarg to Nikalnai 6 hrs trek 11 km Distance: The route starts from Sonmarg to Shekdur.The trail faces tall pine trees,vast pastures covered with lush grass,white mountains,and the stream of glaciers that will run along the way.The track leads to Silver Birch Forest and eventually continues on the Boulder Route to Nichnai Valley. This will be your first occurrence on the high mountains of this trek,so headaches are a common experience

VISHANSAR LAKE ALTITUDE 4000 METERS

DAY 3:-

Nichnai to Vishansar Alpine Great Lake Trek of 7 hours and distance of 13 kms:The route starts from Nichinai Valley,first 3 hours a steep climb up to Niklai Pass.The pass is about 4000 meters high. The meadows along the way are decorated with a staggering array of wild flowers and encompass a magical view of the great Himalayan mountains. After the Nichnai peak,the Vishansar Lake slowly descends to the camp site.This is the first alpine lake in the Kashmir Great Lakes.

VISHANSAR AND KRISHANSAR LAKE

DAY 4:-

Krishnasar Alpine Great Lake:It is a relaxing day, you can take a short hiking excursion till Krishnasar lake,and see the surrounding view,Trout angling can be the option.The meadows surrounding the lakes are very beautiful.

YAMSAR AND GADSAR LAKE ALTITUDE 4300 METERS

DAY 5:-

Vishansar to Gadsar Alpine Great Lake 8 hrs Trek & 16 km Distance:It’s a tough day for every one in the team,you need the best weather to cross the Gadsar pass.The trek starts from Vishansar.The first ascent of Krishnasar Lake is comfortable.A two hours very steep climb from Krishnasar Lake covers a distance of 4300 meters to Gadsar.The real paradise from the pass begins with the magical Great Lakes.A spectacular view of Yamsar Lake and Nanga Parbat is possible on a clear day. SATSAR LAKE ALTITUDE 3400 METERS

DAY 6:-

Gadsar to Satsar Alpine Great Lakes Trek 4 hours and 10 km Distance:The trail starts from Gadsar Campsite.After crossing the ice bridge it makes a moderate climb up to Kasturkut,unlike Kasturkut there is a single permanent settlement of nomadic helmets called Javdora.After Kasturkut you will take a left turn to reach Satsaran camp.After reaching the camp site,you will see the Satsar Lake.

HARMUKH PEAK AND GANGABAL LAKE ALTITUDE 4000 METERS

DAY 7: 

Magandob to Gangabal Twin Alpine Great Lakes Trek 6 hours and 11 km Distance:The track starts with a 3-hour climb from Mengandob to Zazi Pass.From Zaji Pass you will see the twin lakes of Gangabal and Nandkhol with a clear view of the mountain (Harmukh 5400 m altitude) including Kholsar Lake.There are other smaller lakes to be seen from the pass. It is a bit difficult to get down from Zaji Pass to Gangabal Campsite near the lake.

NARANAG VILLAGE AND TEMPLE ALTITUDE 2200 METERS

DAY 8:-

6 hours trek from Gangabal to Narang Valley and 15 km Distance:The route starts from easy walk to Trundkhul. Budshear Ridge,4 hours of difficult climb from the ridge starts up to Narang Valley. After reaching Naranag,you will visit the ruins of the 4000 year old Naranag Temple and drive to Srinagar.
