  • Each university under CUET can opt for its eligibility criteria per its requirements.
  • The CUET Eligibility Criteria 2022 has no age limit. Yet, Central Universities can fix minimum & maximum age limits for admissions to some programs.
  • The weightage of the CUET result will be according to the rules set by the Central University.
  • The respective university shall apply the existing policies regarding category, relaxation, quota, reservations, qualification, subject combinations, preferences, etc.
  • Candidates should visit the official website while applying for the preferred programmes.
  • Securing passing marks or appearing for the entrance test does not entitle a candidate to be considered for admission unless they fulfil the eligibility conditions of the university they are applying for.
  • The candidates must satisfy all the conditions while applying for the desired university to avoid any last-minute rush.

Exam Structure

The CUET exam pattern helps the candidates to get an inside view of how to approach the exam. Candidates must go through these details to help them excel in their preparation.

CUET Eligibility Criteria – Course wise

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria for the particular university before filling out the registration form, as each university has different criteria. Course-wise, eligibility criteria are given below. Students can refer to these details while applying for the exam.

Undergraduate Courses

Minimum 50% marks in class 12th for General category candidates and 45% for SC/ST candidates are required to be eligible for the CUET Exam.

The required subjects according to the desired course are – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Postgraduate Course

General category – Minimum marks are 55% 

SC/ST/OBC/PWD students –  50% minimum marks are required. OBC candidates have different cut-offs in some places.

Candidates must clear the Bachelor’s degree in the same field of the course they want to opt for the Master’s.

PhD. Programme

If the candidate has cleared GATE, NBHM, UGC-CSIR JRF, or qualified in any other National level Exams, they will not be allowed to appear in the entrance test but must register for CUET 2022.

For general candidates, 55% minimum marks in the Master’s degree in any stream, 50% minimum marks for OBC candidates, and 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

The main subjects required for each course will differ depending on the course a candidate is applying for.

CUET: Reservation Policy

Since CUET is an entrance test for admissions to renowned Institutes, each Central University must follow the Indian government’s rules. 

Below is the reservation policy under the CUET Eligibility Criteria.

Integrated BA LLB (Hons) / Integrated BA B.ed / Integrated BA LLB / BA / BBA / BCA  Class 12th exam in any stream from a recognised board of education
Integrated B.Sc B.ed  Class 12th exam in any science stream from a recognised board of education
Integrated B.Sc B.ed (Mathematics) Class 12th exam in any science stream from a recognised board of education. Statistics/ Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics in 12th standard are necessary for candidates.
B.Voc in Biomedical Sciences / Integrated M.Sc in Biochemistry Class 12th exam in any science stream from a recognised board of education
Integrated M.Sc in Chemistry / Integrated B.Sc (Hons.) M.Sc Class 12th exam in any science stream with Chemistry from a recognised board of education
Integrated M.Sc in Biotechnology / Integrated B.Sc M.Sc Class 12th exam in any science stream with Biology from a recognised board 
Integrated M.Sc in Computer Science / Integrated MCA  Class 12th or equivalent exam in any stream from a recognised board
Integrated M.Sc in Economics Class 12th or equivalent exam with English and Maths from a recognised board
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering Class 12th exam in any science stream with Chemistry from a recognised board of education.

Physics and Maths in 12th are compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/biology and Electronics / Computer Science/ Biotechnology 

B.Voc Class 12th exam from a recognised board of education.

NSQF-certified students can also apply for the degree.

Students who have passed the exam from a polytechnic are also eligible to apply.

B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering/ B.Sc in Chemistry/ B.Sc in Physics/ B.Sc in Mathematics Class 12th or any other exam with Physics, Chemistry and Maths from a recognised board.
B.Sc in Textiles Class 12th or any other exam with Physics, Chemistry and Maths from a recognised board.
B.A. in Social Science Class 12th or equivalent exam in any stream
